A 16-microm CF(4) laser oscillator has operated at 1 kHz in a cooled static cell. Pump energies required from the lowpressure, Q-switched, cw-discharge CO(2) laser were as low as 60 microJ. The laser cavity was a multiple-pass off-axispath two-mirror resonator in a ring configuration. CF(4) laser power at 615 cm(-1) and a 1-kHz repetition rate exceeded 300 microW.
