The principle of operation of a PPDT constructed on the basis of an MP consists in the fact that the light flux from the radiation source passes through an optical system which forms, on the working surface of the MP, a narrow streak which intersects all of the discrete photosensitive tracks (DPT) of the MP such that the active resistance between the current-carrying busses of the latter will vary in accordance with a rule specified by the designers.
