Wegen der technischen Bedeutung von Phytol als Rohstoff fur Synthesen der Vitamine E und K wurden selektive quantitative Bestimmungsmethoden ausgearbeitet. Diese bestehen 1. in der gravimetrischen Bestimmung der in Methanol schwer loslichen Verbindung des Phytol-3,5-dinitrobenzoesaureesters mit α-Naphthylamin und 2. in der Bildung des orangerot gefarbten Urethans aus Phytol und 4-Benzolazo-phenyl-isocyanat, der chromatographischen Trennung und kolorimetrischen Bestimmung dieser Verbindung.
