The elaboration of problems having to do with the so-called 'scientific technological revolution' has formed one of the central occupations of Mar xist-Leninist ideology in the past decade. There are thousands of articles and innumerable books, covering all conceivable angles of the 'scientific-techno logical revolution'. Numerous committees and study-groups have been de voting themselves to these themes and hardly an official declaration is n\ade without reference to the 'scientific-technological revolution'. Constant use of this formulation has even resulted in a standard abbreviation 'NTR' (nau?no techniZeskaja revoljucija', which we will express with 'STR') that is repeated without further explanation. The amplitude of the literature on the STR will make it necessary for us to limit ourselves here to the Soviet works that are determinant in the matter.
