Traditional agriculture in Yemen was oriented towards sustainable production with a combination of practices which reduced or eliminated pest infestation and diseases. This study documents indigenous plant protection practices from medieval Yemeni texts, ethnographic research, and recent scientific study in the country. While these traditional practices have largely been ignored in the development process, they form the basis for preparation of a national program of integrated pest management in the Republic of Yemen.
