A study was made of the effect of lanthanum oxide on the properties of barium hexaferrites. It is shown that, by introducing small quantities of lanthanum oxide, it is possible to produce a material with (BH)max of 0.9 · 106 G-Oe, which is practically unaffected by sintering temperature. Barium hexaferrites with small lanthanum oxide additions may be employed for the formulation of hard magnetic materials of increased electrical conductivity.
