1. A study was made of the effects of compaction pressure and the temperature employed in the ammonia nitriding of titanium powder compacts on the porosity and composition of the resultant nitrides. 2. It is proposed that, to obtain specimens of high final porosity, the heating up of compacts to the nitriding temperature should be performed in a hydrogen atmosphere.
