Wave disturbances of the atmosphere due to large fires

Abstract

Because the mechanism responsible for generation of waves by sources acting over a prolonged period of time is still not clear, an artificial large-scale experiment was set up according to given specifications. Tests derived the following parameters: the dependence of the square of the amplitude of oscillations in the wind velocity at the source and on a weather mast on the period for infrasonic parts of the spectrum; dependence of the square of the amplitude of the pressure perturbation in the ultrasonic waves on the period at stations A and C; dependence of the square of the amplitude of the pressure of the amplitude of the pressure perturbation of acousticogravity waves on the period; and the energy spectrum of the signal received at station A as a function of frequency. The analysis performed establishes that large fires are strong natural sources of wave disturbances in the atmosphere.
