The recently developed interest in boron as a possible component of mixed fuels makes it appropriate to study the oxidation kinetics of boron. Based on experimental data on the oxidation of boron at temperatures of up to 1000~ the authors of [i, 2] have obtained a parabolic oxidation law. However, in view of the volatility of the principal product of the reaction of boron with oxygen ~ boric anhydride (boron oxide) -we should expect that at higher temperatures, when evaporation of the boric anhydride becomes significant, the actually observed oxidation law would change.
