The use of one kilometer of glass pipes in technological supply lines makes it possible to reduce by 16 tons the consumption of steel pipes, saving up to i!,000 rubles and obtaining several technical advantages as a result of the excellent corrosion resistance, health safety, and other favorable properties of glass. However, the further increase in the volume of glass-pipe production and the use of effective glass pipes in various branches of the national economy has been held back by the low shock resistance and brittleness of such pipes.
