1. The practicability of gas boronizing at 700–750° C in a BCl3H2 atmosphere was demonstrated. 2. The recommended boronizing procedure is: temperature −850° C, holding time-3–6 hrs., ratio of boron trichloride to hydrogen-about 0.05. 3. With increasing carbon content, the amount of FeB in the diffusion layer decreased and so did the hardness of both FeB and FeB2.
