This paper is concerned with a rigid visco-plastic solid which obeys the Tresca yield condition and an associated flow rule. Generalizations of both linear and nonlinear relationships between the rate of deformation and shearing stress in excess of the yield for simple shear flow are obtained from a complementary function. The visco-plastic flow of a clamped circular plate is considered as an application.
