We assessed 12 healthy pigs for folate status; none was folate deficient. We assayed serum from each for folic acid binding protein (FABP) and found consistently high levels. On Sephadex-gel chromatography, the protein appeared to have a molecular weight of about 50 000 daltons. Its possible significance is discussed.
