VHE and UHE Gamma Ray Sources

Abstract

The observations of Very High Energy, VHE, and Ultra High Energy, UHE, gamma rays from celestial sources are reviewed. Cerenkov detectors for VHE gamma ray measurements and extended air shower arrays for UHE measurements are described. The x-ray binary pulsar source VHE and UHE observations of Cyg X-3, Her X-1, Vela X-1 and Cen X-3 and of the radio pulsar sources PSR 0531 +21 and PSR 0833-45, the Crab and the Vela pulsars, are described in more detail. Possible VHE and UHE gamma ray source catalogs are examined. The current state and future requirements of VHE and UHE gamma ray astronomy are briefly discussed.
