Abstract

The overall picture of beef production in the EEC displays a diversity which is not seen in any other comparable region of the world. Is the situation a reflection of former trade barriers or national traditions in production systems and eating habits, or is it more to be seen as the logical outcome of the local or national resources (breeds, feeds, manpower, etc.) as matched against possible market outlets on the home market or abroad?
