At the present time it is possible to have a large number of pulmonary function tests performed in the lung physiology laboratory attatched to many large hospitals. In fact the clinician is sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of information presented. But what the physician wishes to know from these test results is simply what the clinical implications of any abnormal test results are. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a simple explanation of the clinical implications of the most commonly measured respiratory function tests.
