The recognition of epileptic syndromes is the most important milestone in modern epileptology because it allows accurate diagnosis and management of epilepsy. An epileptic syndrome, is a complex of clinical features, signs, and symptoms that together define a distinctive, recognizable clinical disorder. There are many types of epileptic syndromes which are grossly divided according to their type of epileptic seizures and their cause: A diagnosis of “epilepsy” or “seizures” should not be accepted without asking “what type/syndrome of epilepsy?” Then you make yourself aware of what this syndrome means and what it involves by appropriate questions to health careers and self-education.
