Abstract

The current chapter first examines the electricity production characteristics of autonomous/remote energy consumers with special focus on remote island communities. Accordingly, the wind and the renewable (in general) potentials of these areas are analyzed in order to underline the capability of the former to cover the energy needs of local consumers.
