The geographic location, latitude of the area, atmospheric circulation patterns, relief height, and mountains of the Greater Caucasus, as well as proximity of the warm Black Sea determine the formation of climate in the Republic of Adygea, its seasonal variability and weather. Despite the small length of the territory of Adygea from north to south (about 200 km), the climate of the Republic is very diverse due to significant difference in the elevation. In its northern lowland part, the climate is temperate continental, in the foothills it is warm, humid, and in the southern part there is a cold climate of high mountains. In general, climate in the Republic is favorable for agriculture, industrial development, transport, and recreation. The main characteristics of climate in Adygea are discussed for three different climatic provinces separately: wet steppe, foothill, and mountain regions.
