AbstractUpper and lower bounds are given for P(S ≤ k), 0 ≤ k ≤ ES, where S is a sum of indicator variables with a special structure, which appears, for example, in subgraph counts in random graphs. in typical cases, these bounds are close to the corresponding probabilities for a Poisson distribution with the same mean as S. There are no corresponding general bounds for P(S ≥ k), k > ES, but some partial results are given.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 126 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 1% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
