
AbstractA study of the Shubnikov‐de Haas effect allowed us to determine the Fermi surface of tellurium. At low impurity concentration, the Fermi surfaces are ellipsoidal. When the impurity concentration increases, the ellipsoids coalesce and form a dumb‐bell surface. For p ≈ 1.5 × 1017 cm−3, the ellipsoids are just joining together. From the experimental results obtained in this concentration range, we have been able to calculate some parameters of the valence band, which are in good agreement with the theoretical model.
