
A prebiotic origin of metabolism has been proposed as one of several scenarios for the origin of life. In their recent work, Ralser and colleagues (Keller et al, ) observe an enzyme‐free, metabolism‐like reaction network under conditions reproducing a possible prebiotic environment.
