Although a number of police officers around the country have been trained in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), the public education program that can help individuals across the community understand mental illnesses and support timely intervention, it has yet to fully expand and embrace the firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) community, according to organizers of a new effort to support this population.
