This paper uses proximities to obtain near compactifications of topological spaces. Typical of the results is the following theorem. Every Hausdorff almost completely regular space (X,\(\tau\)) has a Hausdorff near compactification \((X^*,{\mathcal T})\) corresponding to each compatible EF-proximity \(\delta\) on its semi-regularization \((X,\tau_ s)\). Furthermore, \(X^*\) is the space of all clusters (X,\(\delta\)) and \({\mathcal T}\) is the A-topology on \(X^*\) induced by \(\tau\). The authors show how to extend Taimanov's Theorem to almost continuous functions.
Extensions of spaces (compactifications, supercompactifications, completions, etc.), semi- regularization, Topological spaces and generalizations (closure spaces, etc.), almost continuous functions, near compactifications, Proximity structures and generalizations, Extension of maps, almost completely regular space

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
