AbstractThis paper presents a new generalized method of modelling of any kind of shunt and series faults as single or simultaneous faults in arbitrary combination. The proposed approach can be used for conventional fault studies for the steady‐state model based on the nodal admittance representation as well as for fault simulations under transient conditions by means of the EMTP/ATP program. This method has been developed for phase coordinates but it is also suitable for any modal coordinates. The purpose of this paper is to show the incorporation of these fault conditions in the EMTP/ATP algorithm.
