
Study of the development of spatial cognition has become a semiautonomous subfield in the study of cognitive development. But, as well as generating knowledge about the nature of spatial representation and behavior in children and adults, the study of spatial cognition raises fundamental, and perennial, questions about the nature of cognitive development and the methodology of cognitive-developmental research.
