AbstractThe luminescence at low temperatures of the perovskite‐like system Sr8SrGd2‐xEux□W4O24 is reported. The charge‐transfer transition of the Eu3+ ion is situated at low energy, viz. about 29000 cm−1, which influences the luminescent properties drastically. Energy transfer from the tungstate group to Eu3+ is not efficient. This transfer process occurs mainly via the C.T. state.
