To the Editor.— I think George A. Sheehan, MD (232:1127,1975) makes a good point in indicating the lack of use of physical therapy modalities in the treatment of noncontact sports injuries. I think part of the problem is that too few patients are referred to physicians in my specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation to use all the modalities available to physicians, as well as to work closely with the physical therapist in providing a therapeutic physical therapy program.
