</script>One of the most perplexing problems that were presented to the orthopedic surgeon during the war was the restoration of function in injuries of the hand. Each case presented many difficulties rather than a single problem. Complete restoration of function, or as nearly complete restoration as possible, is essential before the full duty of the surgeon to the soldier is fulfilled. An all too frequent mistake has been to send the man with imperfect function of the hand to his home to work out motion in the wrist or some of the small joints of the hand by himself. Many of these men live in remote districts and will never come under medical supervision again. It has not seemed practicable to divide this subject in any way; therefore an attempt will be made to paint the picture as it actually presents itself. Injuries of the wrist joint will be considered
