Assistência e educação da infância pobre nas instituições educativas do Pará nos séculos XIX e XX

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar as principais instituições educativas destinadas à infância no estado do Pará, nos séculos XIX e XX, destacando aspectos da formação direcionada para as crianças nesses espaços. O estudo se constituiu em um levantamento de pesquisas sobre instituições paraenses concebidas para a infância pobre, no banco da CAPES e em livros e revistas indexadas, no recorte de 2004 a 2017. Foram mapeadas oito instituições, nas quais se apontou aspectos da criação, finalidade e práticas educativas destas. Notou-se que o modelo de atendimento e educação da infância acompanhou o percurso em nível nacional – da caridade à filantropia – e também que o projeto formativo pensado para as instituições se relacionava ao ideal de cidadão e sociedade veiculado, que tinha como uma de suas intenções dar um destino “útil” às meninas e meninos oriundos das classes mais baixas da população.Palavras-chave: Infância, Instituições Educativas, História da assistência e educação no Pará.Assistance and education of poor childhood in the educational institutions of Pará in the XIX and XX centuriesAbstractThe aim of this work was to identify the main educational institutions for childhood in state of Pará, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, highlighting aspects of the formation directed to children in these spaces. The study consisted of a survey of researches about paraenses institutions designed for poor childhood, in the CAPES database and in indexed books and journals, from 2004 to 2017. Eight institutions were mapped out, in which aspects of the creation, purpose and educational practices were indicated. It was noted that the model of care and education of childhood followed the course at the national level – from charity to philanthropy – and also that the formative project designed for institutions was linked to the ideal of citizen and society that was published, which had as one of its intentions to give a "useful" destiny for girls and boys from the lower classes of the population.Keywords: Childhood, Educational Institutions, History of assistance and education in Pará.
