Pedagogical conditions of intercultural education of future doctors in higher education institutions

Pedagogical conditions of intercultural education of future doctors in higher education institutions

Abstract

In this study, the intercultural education of future doctors in institutions of higher education is considered through the prism of the national identity of the individual and his/her understanding of the needs of another person, belonging to another culture and customs. It has been proven that culture is a means of self-expression for future doctors in the educational process. Relations between participants in the educational process should be based on partnership and respect for different cultures and traditions. Note that insufficient attention is paid to intercultural education in the professional training of future doctors. Therefore, there is a need to develop and implement pedagogical conditions for the intercultural education of future doctors in institutions of higher education. The development of future doctors’ ability to understand cultural identity is because without understanding the native culture, it is impossible to master, experience, and analyze a foreign culture. Cultural identity is understood as a person’s awareness of the cultural norms of behavior, values, and language of communication of the country where he or she was born, works, and develops, particularly in the case of geographical displacement. Using the potential of social and humanitarian disciplines is necessary for the intercultural education of future doctors in the process of self-discovery and self-improvement. Examples of such disciplines are "Ukrainian language for professional orientation", "Psychology of communication", "Innovative pedagogy", "Professional psychology and conflict management", which are taught to future doctors. Promoting the academic mobility of future doctors expands the boundaries of intercultural education of young people. Intercultural education of future doctors occurs in the process of increasing the efficiency of scientific research, improving the quality of education, studying the management system of other institutions, and further introducing the acquired experience into the management system of institutions, thus increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market. There are various forms of academic mobility: scientific and language internships, study under student exchange programs under international agreements on partnership between higher education institutions, and educational (research, production) practice.
