Analysis of energy efficiency indicators of autonomous voltage inverters with impedance and quasi-impedance links in the input circuit using different modulation algorithms

Analysis of energy efficiency indicators of autonomous voltage inverters with impedance and quasi-impedance links in the input circuit using different modulation algorithms

Abstract

Voltage Source Inrertors (VSI), are widely used in asynchronous and synchronous electric drive systems, as well as power supply systems using alternative energy sources. Autonomous voltage inverters can be divided into single-level and multi-level variations by their circuit features. A promising topology of stand-alone voltage inverters is a converter using an impedance and quasi-impedance link in the input circuit. A feature of such inverters is the ability to work in additional modes, the so-called «breakdown modes». This makes it possible to adjust the input current and voltage of the inverter and allows you to transfer more of the original Power from the power source (overhead power grid or an alternative voltage source – solar battery, wind generator, biofuel cell) to the load. An additional advantage of stand-alone voltage inverters with quasi-impedance input circuit is improved indicators of the quality of the input current, and the very lower values of the coefficient of harmonic distortion of the input current. The purpose of this particular work is to study the indicators in the energy efficiency of an autonomous voltage inverter VSI with impedance and quasi-impedance circuir in the input circuit using different modulation algorithms. The modern control algorithms for the converter are vector pulse width modulation (PWM) and lump modulation. It should be noted that different modulation systems result in quite different indicators of sinusoidality of the input voltage and current and different ripple factor of the input current. Research consists in the formation of recommendations for the use of different modulation algorithms in different modes of operation. Investigated the energy characteristics and indicators of electromagnetic compatibility of the specified types of inverters with different modulation algorithms. A comparative analysis of the implemented indicators in the ripple of the input current, the sinusoidality of the initial current and voltage is given, and the value of static and dynamic losses in the converter is calculated. The advantages and disadvantages of each scheme have been identified. The data were obtained by simulation in the Matlab/Simulink software middle and calculation in the specialized program MelcoSim from Mitsubishi.
