EVALUASI PENAMPILAN BENGKUANG (Pachyrhizus erosus L.) GENERASI M1 HASIL IRADIASI SINAR GAMMA

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan Maret sampai dengan Juli 2018. Bengkuang varietas Kota Padang merupakan tanaman kacang-kacangan menyerbuk sendiri sehingga memiliki keragaman genetik yang rendah. Salah satu usaha yang dapat dilakukan untuk memperluas keragaman genetik tanaman adalah dengan pemuliaan mutasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan dosis iradiasi efektif pada benih bengkuang Varietas Kota Padang. Benih bengkuang di iradiasi dengan sinar gamma dosis 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 dan 500 Gy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LD50 terdapat pada dosis 150 gy. Dosis iradiasi memberikan pengaruh terhadap penampilan warna batang, warna daun, umur berbunga, umur panen, jumlah polong dan tinggi tanaman bengkuang. Variasi yang tinggi dalam populasi ditemui pada tanaman dengan dosis 200 gy. Tanaman mutan menunjukkan tinggi tanaman dan viabilitas pollen yang semakin rendah dengan meningkatnya dosis iradiasi.
