Abstract

Spodoptera frugiperda merupakan salah satu hama tanaman jagung yang dapat merusak tanaman dengan tingkat serangan yang cukup berat. Pengendalian hama ini dapat dilakukan dengan cara menggunakan cendawan entomopatogen Beauveria bassiana. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendapatkan isolat cendawan B. bassiana yang virulen terhadap S. frugiperda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji berasal dari sumber yang berbeda yaitu, (A) Isolat Walang sangit (WS), (B) Isolat Endofit Batang Cabai (PB 211), (C) Isolat Endofit Batang Gandum (TD 312). Larva S. frugiperda disemprot dengan suspensi cendawan dengan kerapatan konidia 108 konidia/ml. Variabel pengamatan adalah karakteristik isolat, mortalitas larva, persentase pupa terbentuk, persentase imago terbentuk, jumlah telur yang diletakkan dan lama hidup imago. Data dianalisis dengan sidik ragam dan uji lanjut LSD pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa isolat B. bassiana mampu menghasilkan mortalitas tertinggi pada larva dengan persentase 52,00%. Aplikasi B. bassiana juga mempengaruhi perkembangan populasi berikutnya dengan menghambat pembentukan pupa dan imago S. frugiperda. Isolat yang lebih efektif dalam mengendalikan S. frugiperda adalah B. bassiana yang berasal dari walang sangit (WS).
