This paper investigates the properties of the metric in the EIGRP protocol and its application in routing. The paper begins with a review of the theoretical part, such as the definition of the protocol, metric calculation, and an introduction to routing terminology. In the second part, the paper deals with the practical demonstration of theoretical concepts on a selected topology, firstly using the formula and forming assumptions about the network, and finally proving the accuracy of the results.
