Abstract

This thesis investigates the applicability of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for local positioning, with an emphasis on the use of DW3110 integrated circuit. Different methods for distance measurement using UWB technology were analyzed, and a mathematical model for solving trilateration and multilateration problems was developed. Based on defined functional requirements and architecture, a prototype of a local positioning system was implemented, using development modules with DW3110 integrated circuit. A custom communication protocol and an algorithm for automatic determination of stationary node arrangement were developed, enabling network autocalibration for cases where their initial positions are unknown. A demonstration system for realtime mobile node tracking was implemented, and experimental evaluation under various operating conditions provided an estimate of measurement uncertainty, confirming the functionality and practical applicability of the developed solution.
