Učinkovitost metoda predviđanja unutar slike u koderima videosignala

Abstract

Video encoding is the compression of video while preserving quality. It is used to achieve better transmission and less memory usage. It removes spatial and temporal redundancies in videos. Typical processes in video encoder are prediction, transformation, quantization and entropy coding. Prediction is divided into intra prediction and inter prediction. Intra prediction makes predictions based on adjacent pixels within the same image and inter prediction makes predictions based on similar blocks from the previous or future image in a series of consecutive images. This paper describes intra prediction modes and provides an overview of the modes used for intra prediction. The main focus are the H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC video encoding standards. It is examined how the choice of intra modes affects the efficiency of video encoding.
