Historically, the technology of unmanned aerial vehicles was originally made for military purposes. The first appearances of drones greatly improved the course of warfare from the possibility of espionage, logistical assistance, and bombing attacks from a safe distance. Over time, people realized that drones could also be used for civilian purposes to improve certain activities. Today, they are used in activities such as package delivery, border control and traffic monitoring, insurance, and inspection of inaccessible infrastructures. At the beginning of 2020, the Croatian Post performed its first delivery by drone between the Zadar port of Gaženica and Preko, thus reducing delivery time. With the introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles, the reduction of the Croatian Post's fleet is being considered. For a long time, the Amazon store has been presenting its Prime Air program for the purpose of delivering shipments by drones and encouraged by this project, they are also patenting a hive - a terminal for receiving and sending drones.
Povijesno gledajući tehnologija bespilotnih letjelica prvotno je napravljena u vojne svrhe. Prve pojave bespilotnih letjelica uvelike unaprjeđuju tijek ratovanja od mogućnosti špijunaže, logističke pomoći i bombardiranja sa sigurne udaljenosti. S vremenom su ljudi shvatili kako bespilotne letjelice mogu upotrijebiti i u civilne svrhe u cilju poboljšanja određenih djelatnosti. Danas se koriste u djelatnostima poput dostave paketa, nadzora granica i praćenja prometa, osiguranjima i inspekciji nedostupnih infrastruktura. Hrvatska pošta početkom 2020. godine obavlja svoju prvu dostavu dronom između zadarske luke Gaženice do Preka i time smanjuju vrijeme isporuke. Razmatra se smanjenje voznog parka Hrvatske pošte uvođenjem bespilotnih letjelica. Trgovina Amazon već duži vremenski period predstavlja svoj program Prime Air čija je svrha dostava pošiljke dronom. Potaknuti ovim projektom patentiraju i košnicu odnosno terminal za prijem i otpremu bespilotnih letjelica.
