Najwyższe dobro

Abstract

The article highlights the significance of bread in folk culture. The author presents bread as the supreme good for peasants. He examines its significance as a gift from God and a staple food that ensures survival. He explores the magical and customary contexts surrounding bread. The author also emphasizes the role of women in bread-baking. Women were, in a sense, priestesses, and although their role was not a formal institution, it complemented the worship in temples. Bread created a sense of community and was an expression of solidarity, especially with the weak and the poor.

Artykuł ukazuje znaczenie chleba w kulturze ludowej. Pokazuje magiczne i obyczajowe konteksty identyfikacji pieczywa.
