The article discusses the history of the formation of academic degrees. Analyzed requirements, characteristics of the production of higher degrees. It was found that for the first time as the titles of Master and Doctor appeared before the universities, and has always meant a higher identity, later came to mean the same importance, but in relation to the scientific corporation. Traditions obtaining academic degrees and for modern scholars are one of the incentives for scientific development.

В статье рассматривается история становления ученых степеней. Проанализированы требования, характерные особенности получения высших степеней. Установлено, что впервые как титулы магистр и доктор появились еще до появления университетов и всегда означали высшую принадлежность, позже стали означать ту же значимость, но по отношению к ученой корпорации. Традиции получения ученых степеней и для современных ученых являются одним из стимулов научного развития.
