In the article the questions connected with the methodical preparation of students to use practical application in teaching school geometry are considered. The author highlights the existing problems in this field. Two methodological means of using problems on application in teaching geometry are considered from the theory to its practical application; from a practical problem to a search of a theory to solve it. The primary goal of such a preparation of students is formation of the methodological competence connected with the use of practical applications in teaching school mathematics.
