
The sockeye salmons from Lake Azabachije (Kamchatka), in contrast to other Oncorhynchus species (pink salmon, chum salmon, coho salmon), have polymodal distribution of their size and weight. The reasons of this phenomenon are analyzed, with the assumption of normal initial distribution. It could be caused by selective withdrawal of the sockeye by natural predators and fishery. Each predator, and fishery as well, have certain selectivity (that coincides for bears and seals only), so influences on different parts of the initial normal distribution, which are determined for the main predators (mesopelagic fishes, pinnipeds, bears) and fishery. Both for early and late runs, the fishery withdraws mostly large-sized sockeye (usually 53-63 cm and 1000-1600 g from the early population, 55-65 cm and 1600-3300 g from the late population), predatory fishes, as Anotopterus nikparini and Alepisaurus ferox mostly small-sized sockeye (usually 37-48 cm and

Причиной возникновения наблюдаемого явления может быть селективное воздействие хищников и промысла на подход ранней и поздней популяций нерки оз. Азабачьего. Показана избирательность различных типов хищников (мезопелагические рыбы, ластоногие и медведи) и промысла по отношению к размерным характеристикам нерки. Также представлены оценки селективных воздействий от хищников и промысла.
