Abstract

Building on relevant data from research in philosophy, sociology, psychology, and education studies, theoretical prerequisites for developing a system of professional values in students are discussed. An algorithm for such value acquisition by freshmen at a pedagogical university is formulated. Pedagogical prerequisites for shaping up professional values in pedagogical university first-year students are identified and substantiated. They are as follows: realization of the axiological potential of pedagogical knowledge, construction of dialogue as communicative-educational medium called upon to facilitate value formation in regard to educational activity, the educator's self, and the personality of an individual being educated, involvement of students in simulated modeling of dynamic exteriorization of values thus built in action and communication.
