Abstract

The article describes the results of studies of higher school adaptation difficulties of resident students and students from other parts of the country at different universities of Ekaterinburg according to the criteria of "anxiety" and "loneliness". The research is based on the works by Zarembo N.A., which are devoted to the analysis of the typical difficulties of adaptation of resident students and students from other parts of the country; and on the findings of Artamonova A.A., Krasnova V., Lokteva O.V., Morozova O.V., Rean A.A., Slobodchivov V.I., which are concentrated on the correlation of personal characteristics of students and the difficulties of their adaptation to the university. The research was carried out on a sample of 356 students using three kinds of methods (Spielberger questionnaire, Korchagina questionnaire on "Loneliness" and Zarembo questionnaire to identify the difficulties of adaptation). The statistical reliability of the results is ensured by Fischer's angular transformation. The results are compared with those obtained in 2013 by Zarembo N.A. with the students of the Northern Arctic Federal University (Arkhangelsk). The research argues the necessity to monitor the problems and difficulties arising with first-year resident students and first-year students from other parts of the country in modern higher education institutions in order to determine the field of activity of university special services to rehabilitate probable maladaptive behavior of students and its consequences.
