Abstract

The article explores the status of the «precise» methodology in the contemporary study of literature, and the prospects of its renewal in specific research projects. The crisis of «precise» programs in the field of theoretical literary discourse is ascertained. Possible ways of overcoming this crisis by distinguishing teaching and scientific tasks are established. The idea of the context of the discussion on «precision» in philology being deeply rooted in history and world-view is put forward. The complexity of philological method convergence in terms of «accuracy» / «inaccuracy» is highlighted. The author believes that the convergence of «differently-natured» methods cannot occur in the mode of plain eclecticism. The necessity of revealing «convergent points» contributes to the dramatic character of the theoretical literary methodology.
