Abstract

The problems of organization and information and methodological support of engineering design as the extracurricular activities of school students are covered. Particular attention is paid to the participation of students in competitions as the final design phase. The network form of design work using modern information technologies is considered as perspective. Attention is paid to the forming of motivation for students to participate in project activities. The need to introduce into the school curriculum the discipline “Technical Design” is emphasized. The author opines that the discipline curriculum should include the topics related to the commercialization of technological solutions. Questions of the organization of competitions of students’ design works are raised. Recommendations on the organization of jury’s evaluation of the competitions based on the experience of the author are given. It is argued that it is necessary to attract scientists of research institutions and industry professionals to ensure the relevance and high level of the projects, as well as teachers in related disciplines to ensure that developed themes are of students’ educational level. The possibility of the competition for the topics of school projects is argued, as each topic is the result of a significant work of the developer. It is expected that it will require the use of tools of patent protection.
