Abstract

The author provides a critical analysis of the numerous articles written by E.V. Komleva, an employee at the Institute of Philosophy and Political Science of the Technical University, Dortmund, who has a philological educational background. Her articles are related to the problems of nuclear waste burial (including the nuclear waste from Europe and Japan) on Russian territory. Questioning the adequacy of the knowledge base of the author in the given sphere of expertise, Golubov underlines the pure propagandist and pseudo-ecological character of the articles written by Ms. Komleva. He also analyses the current theory and practice of the nuclear waste storage, including practice on the USA and German territories. Golubov gives the real reason for propaganda about the storage of nuclear waste from Germany on Russian territory: it is the recent finding that the mines in Germany do not provide an adequate level of geological security for keeping nuclear waste. The conclusion the author has come to, on the basis of presented analysis is that it is extremely difficult or even practically impossible to provide the safe conditions for burial of nuclear waste over extended period of time.
