Abstract

Protection of potato from virus diseases is one of the most complex problems in potato seeds production. It illustrates that the possibility of virus infection of potato plants and, which is the most important, transmission of a virus into tubers is largely determined by the terms of growing, cultural practices, level of infectivity (number of the infection sources and total vector activity), resistance of the varieties grown and other factors. The main ways to solve this problem use of healthy (free from the phytopathogenic viruses) seed material, removing of the infection sources, eradication of the vectors and minimization of the factors which may stimulate the re-infection during the plants growth.
