Abstract

The authors have investigated the motion of an athlete's body during an unsupported sport exercise period from the standpoint of pedagogical biomechanics. The example of gymnastic exercises was used to analyze the forward motion of the common center of mass of an athlete's body in flight and the rotational motion around him/her as around a fixed point. It is shown that the basic flight parameters are the velocity of the common center of mass of an athlete's body and its main angular momentum at the moment of the termination of the connection with the support. An athlete can not change them by his/her actions in flight. The authors made the conclusions that were biomechanically proved and pedagogically meaningful
