Abstract

Today, there is urgent need to strengthen the educational principles in family, in pedagogy, in society. Modern Russian society is aware that using only educational methods, it is impossible to form a fullfledged, fully developed human of the 21st century. There should be a harmonious personality development, not excluding the spiritual and moral development. The need of inclusion of moral and spiritual component into the educational process was underlined in 1999, when the Ministry of Education of Russia approved the “Program of development of education in the educational system of Russia” for 1999-2001. It began with the words: “Spiritual and moral formation of children and young people, preparing them for an independent life is the most important component of the development of society and the state”. Russian traditions have been named one of the foundations of SUMMARY the update of content and structure of education. This leads again and again to the historical experience. Use of Russian traditional spiritual and cultural values is not accidental. For centuries, the Russian Orthodox Church has been participating in nation-building through the formation of spiritual and moral traditions of the Russian society. Having developed centuriesold traditions and having been polished by them itself, it is a part of mentality of the Russian people, part of its culture. The Russian Orthodox tradition, being the moral support of the people, has formed a unique and rich culture, has contributed to the consolidation of society. Russian Orthodox clergy has extensive experience in education of the Russian society. The priority for the Russian Orthodox Church has always been to work with the younger generation, children and youngsters. Using this experience seems topical. It is also important to study the regional aspect, this makes it possible to involve a large layer of poorly studied archival material.
